Joe Biden ran for president as an enfeebled 78-year-old. There are plenty of vigorous and brilliant septuagenarians; Biden is not one of them.

Joe knew, his wife knew, our current White House chief of staff Ron Klain knew and the press must have known, that Biden was not up to the rigors of four years in the White House. And yet they pushed him forward, a candidate with few convictions and even fewer capabilities.

But here’s who also knew: China’s President Xi and Russian strongman Vladimir Putin.

The worlds’ despots saw what clear-eyed Americans saw: weakness. They saw a president whom they could bully, whose convictions were shallow. Now, in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin is testing Joe Biden.

Clear-eyed Americans saw it.

I am convinced that Blue MAGAs like Curt and po, et.al. saw it, too.

But, they hated so much that they didn't care. Their TDS controlled them so completely that they were even willing to vote for a doddering old fart to get rid of OrangeMan...let our future be damned.

Now, we're all paying.

So what in your mind would constitute a lack of presidential weakness? Would y0u have Biden send American soldiers into a ground war against Russia? Maybe start a nuclear war?

Biden managed to get NATO to act as a team after Trump did his best to dissolve NATO. NATO countries are acting in concert issuing sanctions against Russian oligarchs and Putin.

The Ukraine is to Putin as Czechoslovakia was to Hitler. Hitler called Czechoslovakia Sudetenland as if it were a natural extension of Germany. Putin sees the Ukraine as rightful part of Russia. It's not as if America or Europe can allow Putin's actions to go unchallenged. We shouldn't make a Chamberlainian "peace in our time" with Putin. Maybe the best thing is something short of a full scale war. Perhaps sanctions and maybe cyber warfare are the best option.

Joe is frail. He invites the abuse of bullies.

The indescribable idiocy and incompetence of that withdrawal from Afghanistan in which, among many follies, Joe promised not to leave until all of people and allies have been safely removed, guaranteed Putin that Joe won't be able to challenge in Ukraine. If he needed to be emboldened, Putin knew, for certain, Joe is a disaster.

At his best, Joe was always a mess in foreign affairs.

Vlad knows, as Robert Gates famously said, Biden has "been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades."

Take it to the bank. Joe Biden will be bested by Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. No other outcome is even possible.

You can't convince me that you don't know that.

Now answer Curt's question. And before you come back with "What question?", it's in the first part of what Curt posted.

The word now is that Putin seems to be so determined to annex all of Ukraine that there's probably nothing that will deter him.

If that turns out to be true, then how would YOU suggest handling the situation?

    I anxiously await your dodge.

    Donna,
I am sure you didn't expect any response to my direct questions from HtS besides crickets.

Imagine the tirade HtS would go on if Biden had called Putin savvy and a genius.

This is, itself, an absurd, fatalistic question. You Blue MAGAs stun me. Millions of us!

The place to have begun would have been for your side to have repented of your Trumpaphobia at the moment it became clear that to defeat Trump would mean to foist on the whole WORLD an old man who often can't complete a simple sentence and can barely read a teleprompter.

After that, our doddering old fool could have been honest about who the enemy is.

Vladimir Putin is a psychopath who's now in his mid 70s and who has devoted his life to restoring Russia to the greatness of the Soviet Union and who knows his remaining days are dwindling.

It was criminal idiocy to adopt Biden’s strategy with Putin of promising beforehand that you won't use troops...

...then only to react to what Putin has already accomplished...

...then to always assume only a defensive posture...

...then not to respond assertively but merely to threaten serious sanctions. (Joe's going to give a other speech in an hour. If he doesn't announce that an aggressive response has already been taken by us, he's nothing but a frail old pu$$y.)

At the first sign of Russia aggression, Joe should have sent $billions of weaponry to Ukraine and should have begun training Ukrainian troops.

He should be threatening the use of the US Navy and Air Force to keep the peace in Ukraine's air space and directly threatening that if any member of the US military is attacked in this peacekeeping mission, Biden will consider Russia to have attacked the US itself, that we will consider Russia to have declared war on the United States.

So, there. That, off the top, is my dodge.

That you can't seem to imagine that Joe's done all can be done qualifies you as a shortsighted fool.

We had all of World War 2 because people like you refused to deal with the Nazis as a band of psychos. You want to repeat history with Putin. And, by the end, millions will suffer and die.

  6. by Curt_Anderson on February 24, 2022 9:18 am
So you'd have America go to war over this. Basically your solution is WWII.

You'd also have Biden send $billions of arms to Ukraine at the first sign of Putin's threats. Brilliant. That would be a gift for the invading Russians.

I guess you forgot what Trump did before his first impeachment.

(WaPo)President Trump told his acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, to hold back almost $400 million in military aid for Ukraine at least a week before a phone call in which Trump is said to have pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate the son of former vice president Joe Biden, according to three senior administration officials.

Officials at the Office of Management and Budget relayed Trump’s order to the State Department and the Pentagon during an interagency meeting in mid-July, according to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. They explained that the president had “concerns” and wanted to analyze whether the money needed to be spent.

Ah, the old "Trump Trump Trump Trump...
Trump" trick. Third time I've been fooled by it this week...NOT!

If, long before this started, Biden had laid down the law to Putin...and if Putin believed it...this would not be happening.

Tragically, Joe executed as disastrous a foreign policy blunder as has taken place in history and his frailty and weakness became undoubtable. Afghanistan is in the books. The story of Joe's doddering ineptitude is in the books.

I was careful to make the first part of my answer your culpability in being willing to vote for Biden...and countenance the cheating...in order to get rid of Trump.

You did this. You and the rest of the Blue MAGA gang.

Many millions of Americans will always blame you.

You know, don't you, that Ukraine is lost. It's Russia's. It's only a matter of time.

What's the chance that Taiwan will be free by our next Inauguration? Is there any chance, even a slim one, with the doddering old fool running our military and diplomacy?

Do I want to start WW3 over this? I'm convinced that historians very well may conclude that the demise of the West began when people like you decided that anyone-but-Trump extended to election a "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

    Now we're all stuck.

  8. by Donna on February 24, 2022 12:53 pm
So you would have likely committed American soldiers to a hot war with Russia.

Actually I considered that approach too. It's a legitimate position, not without great risks, though, including nuclear war. Given Putin's state of mind, though, I seriously doubt that that would have stopped him from invading Ukraine.
