Notes are filed and await collection by the Clinical Coding Support Workers.
Notes arrive within the Coding office and are places on the shelves in chronological order by date of discharge.
Coders collect the notes from the shelves, giving priority to those with earlier discharge dates.
Notes are coded according to national standards and agreed local guidance. Are there any issues requiring attention?

Codes are sent back to Medical Records, or to the ward if necessary.
