Using this flowchart will help you to add and subtract positive and negative integers. This chart is intended to be utilized after instruction with manipulatives and/or number lines.

               
Put the middle + or - with the number that does not have a + or -. example: -25 +10

Is there only one number without a + or -? example: -25 + 10=

Are there two negative signs? example: -25 - -10
NO
Is there a positive and negative sign? -25 + 10

Subtract the least (smallest) number from the greater (biggest) number. 25-10=15

Add the numbers together. example: 25 + 10 = 35
 
Put a negative sign with your answer IF THE GREATER (BIGGER) NUMBER HAD A NEGATIVE SIGN.
