Socrates and Plato. He questioned how the mind and
body communicate. He believed that the mind contained
animal spirits the flowed from the brain through nerves
to different parts of the body, producing movement
> Francis Bacon (1561-1626) became one of the founders of
modern science, and still influences experiments today.
He recognized our ability to notice and remember things
that confirm our beliefs
> John Locke (1632-1704) argued that the mind is a blank
slate that experience writes on. He helped to form what
is now called Empiricism
