I agree with everything you just said, Mac. Especially the part where you mentioned that luck did have something to do with it.

It was Winston Churchill who wisely said, "If you are young and not a liberal, you have no social conscience; if you are older and not a conservative, you have no common sense!

You're like a male dog who lifts his leg at every tree, hydrant, and pole he passes.

Not only that, the quote is wrong and Winston Churchill never said it anyway: [www.winstonchurchill.org]. James really hit the jackpot here.

You are like a female dog always following me around hoping I will "hump" you.

Sorry! … Not a chance!

Very good response!

Now that is funny!
Attributing the quote to Churchill is an error that many have made.
The quote itself is merely wrong.

Any Liberal who changes their stance just because they got older was probably not a Liberal to begin with.
The concept is that as we get older we become more successful.
Giving rise to the statement:
"Inside every good Democrat is a Republican waiting to hit the lottery."
Changing your politics just because you came into money is just an indication of selfishness.

Example:
Communism is being explained to someone who doesn't know anything about it.
It's like, if you have two houses and your neighbor has no house, you give him one of your houses.
I like Communism
It's like, if you have two cars and your neighbor has no car, you give him one of your cars.
I like Communism
It's like, if you have two chickens and your neighbor has no chickens, you give him one of your chickens.
I DON'T like Communism.
Why not?
I have two chickens.

Wrong!

Although it cannot be directly attributed to Churchill, he did change parties twice with the last one being from a young, impressionable liberal to mature, seasoned conservative.

Did he change because of his politics, or did he change because his beliefs actually changed?

His writings would seem to suggest that his beliefs changed, but the actual switch was timed for favorable political reasons.

That is why the quote is widely attributed to him because he did make similar statements when he made the switch from liberal to conservative. Rather like Arlen Specter and Joe Lieberman or anyone else who changes political parties.

So you ever get tired of being wrong James?

He's so proud of his errors that he repeats them ad infinitum.

James,
Listen (read) carefully.
Arlen Specter most recently switched from being a Republiklan to being a Democrat.
And Joe Leibermann only changed from Democrat to Independent AFTER HE LOST the Democratic Primary to Ned Lamont.
Neither of them switched parties because they changed their beliefs.
They switched because they were opportunists.

Sources?

Without reliable sources, these comments are mere speculation and unsupported conclusions on your part!

Arlen Specter: [en.wikipedia.org]

Joe Lieberman: [en.wikipedia.org]

That should get you started James. Go ahead, read about their conversions.

Then you can google their names on your own and read even more about it.
James,
You need a "source" before you will believe that Liebermann lost the Democratic Primary?
Don't they have TV, radio, and newspapers where you live?
Arlen Specter himself said he could not win a Republiklan Primary race in Pennsylvania.

You sure do seem to be opinionated for someone so uninformed about current events.

If you cannot provide any reliable sources for your frequent "off-the-wall" conclusions just be a Man and say so and stop “arm waving” and deflecting!
