From last night's Real Time.

It won't matter who the Democratic nominee is. It won't matter how much the Democrats accomplish by the midterms or 2024. The Republicans who stopped Trump's coup this time will have been replaced with Trump loyalists by 2024.

There's even a good chance that Trump will win legitimately.

How do you all feel about Maher's concerns? He likened it to Al Qaeda's two attacks on the WTC - the first one in 1993 involving an exploding van and the big one that happened 8 years later.

It's depressing how many Americans are anti-democracy. We've had a good thing going for over 200 years. Trump 0.1 was bad. Trump 0.2 would be a disaster.

It's going to be worse than just depressing, though.

The real issue is you regular Ds don't understand a good portion of the country wants real, effective change. And when they see the Democrats manipulating the primaries to nominate a guy from another era who wants to nibble around the edges again during the worst pandemic in 100 years - they see no reason to vote for the Ds. Biden can - but refuses - to do many of the things that would make a big difference in people's lives. For instance - canceling student debt. Stroke of a pen - done. He refuses. Legalize marijuana - stroke of the pen. He refuses. He could fight for ending the filibuster. He could have told the Ds to fire the parliamentarian instead of acting like the parliamentarian is the president with the final say. He could put pressure on Joe Manchin instead of giving his wife a $100K do-nothing job as thanks for killing the $15 min wage. He could fight for that too.

But actually - those are all side issues. The real issue is you folks - the "moderate" (read "extremist" ) Ds who want to keep floating along on this same path headed towards... Trump II. You guys got him for us last time - and you didn't learn the OBVIOUS lesson. Instead you wanted to pretend it was all Vladimir Putin's fault. Now you're probably going to get Trump again - I can EASILY see that happening again now - especially if Biden caves on the reconciliation bill (which he will - that's why they separated the bills in the first place). That's the other thing - all these stupid games Nancy, Joe and AOC think fool the public like breaking the bill in two? Nobody's fooled. All it does is tell the public "We don't respect your intelligence". So you get Trump again - you deserve him (as does Bill Maher, the world's biggest phony).

BTW, the People's Party is officially on the ballot in Florida. My vote will go to them.

It's not going to matter what the Dems do, Indy.

Indy!, how would we have made any progress with Bernie as the losing presidential candidate? How would Donald Trump winning the 2020 election have helped "a good portion of the country" in any way at all? At least now there's a possibility.

  8. by Indy! on October 12, 2021 2:03 pm
Rewarding the Ds for cheating and not backing up their "platforms" is what got us here in the first place. And any hope for real change probably went out the window with Biden's first legislation back in the Spring. He's not going to fight for the reconciliation bill when you guys will be happy with nothing. You'll just say "well he's still better than Trump".

BTW - how about that Gruden thing? Indy's been celebrating all weekend.

I don't know that others even know who the Raiders coach was, Indy, much less care. I would have thought you'd be unhappy with the upheaval of the Silver and Black.
