There's a degree that you have to blame Trump for this but the truth is that the chaos of the incompetent withdrawal of the USA from Afghanistan has created innumerable unnecessary tragedies for Afghan women.

And, I know.

I'm among a small minority of people who strenuously opposed the Afghan withdrawal. But, understand that the struggles these women are facing are your fault if you favor our withdrawal from Afghanistan.

I do hope that you have trouble sleeping at night fretting over what LGBTQIA people and women in general are going through. It was not necessary.

Those kinds of things happened during the US-NATO occupation too. Remember Malala Yousafzai, the young lady who was shot in the face by a Taliban gunman in 2012 for protesting against girls being shut off from attended school? She went on to win a Nobel Prize. She's 24 now.

Fuck you, pb. And Fuck your holier-than-thou, hypocritical, faux-concern for women and people who you don't really give a flying fuck about, until you can use them to support your fucked up opinions, or you want to rail against them for receiving their basic Constitutional rights.

The entire Muslim world does forced marriages. Our "great" ally Saudi Arabia does it, and I've never heard a fucking word from you about the suffering of their women. Why aren't we invading and occupying Saudi Arabia to stop forced marriages and their abuse of LGBTQ folk in their population? Why are you giving them a total pass?

So we're supposed to keep troops occupying a country, spending hundreds of millions of dollars per fucking DAY for DECADES and into perpetuity, just to keep that one Muslim country from abusing minorities in it's population like all Muslim countries do to one extent or another, when we are ignoring or are allies with other Muslim countries that do the exact same things?

I know you sleep well every night. No matter what. Because you lack any shred of basic human empathy. Just like the vast majority of your Republican and conservative brethren do. So you can go fuck yourself. Anytime. But preferably as soon as possible.

    po,

I've been through this with Donna already.

The reason I support staying in Afghanistan in exactly the way we've been in Germany and Japan for about 80 years and South Korea for 70 years has nuthin to do with the status of women and girls. But, it would have cost us nuthin, not a penny, to elevate the staus of those women by remaining there for very strategic reasons.

    It's a wonderful added benefit.

    Ah!!! I see...!

    So it's kinda like a...

    Buy just one
    "Deluxe 'Strategic Reasons' Afghanistan Occupation"
(Which automatically comes with a generous twenty-year supply of Military Industrial Complex Profits!)
at the regular, every day low low price of just $300,000,000 a day...

    And Get:

"Western Style School for Women, Sans Hijab!"

    AND

    "Safeguarded LGBTQ"

    THROWN IN
    AT NO EXTRA COST!!!

    Creating educated, liberated women
    and un-murdered LGBTQ in Afghanistan
    costs the American taxpayer...

    !!!ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

    ...kinda thing.

    Yikes, po! Wassup wit you?

    I hit a nerve, eh?

I have no idea what this is a about.

    Oy!

We were spending a FRACTION in Afghanistan that we dump into Germany and Japan and South Korea.

And, making a meaningful difference in people's lives.

I refuse to believe that you are this heartless but you're making a strong case!

  8. by Ponderer on September 3, 2021 7:51 pm

"We were spending a FRACTION in Afghanistan that we dump into Germany and Japan and South Korea."

$300,000,000 a day is a "fraction" of what we spend in those other countries?

I anxiously await your link to any official statistics purporting any such thing, as I certainly can't find anything to corroborate it.

    Cough it up...........

  9. by HatetheSwamp on September 4, 2021 3:29 am

    Are you serious?

In the last 18 months, when no American military were killed? How much were we spending a day!!!!!!!

I mean none were killed...until Joe.

  10. by Donna on September 4, 2021 4:27 am
Yes, but as you know, or should know, that period of safety for US/NATO troops only lasted from 2/29/20 to 5/1/21, the period of the Trump/Taliban agreement. So I don't get your statement, hts. If Biden hadn't pulled the US and NATO out militarily, the situation would have returned to that prior state, which was the state of endless war.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on September 5, 2021 5:59 am

    Donna,

po's outrageous sum includes the cost of the initial invasion in 2001 and the ridiculous surge in 2009, the brainchild of The ONE.

Take those extraordinary costs away and the expense of our involvement in Afghanistan was reasonable...and could have been in the future.

  12. by Donna on September 5, 2021 8:09 am
All of these wars and occupations feed the swamp.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on September 5, 2021 9:34 am

Preach it, Donna. And, the pb definition of the Swamp, including the SwampMedia and military industrial complex.
