California School District Votes in Favor of Keeping a Child’s Gender Transition Status from Parents

The Chico Unified School District has voted to keep their “parental secrecy” policy in place. “Parental secrecy” allows Chico Unified to not inform parents if a child identifies by another gender at school.

Oliva Phillips, an educator supporting student privacy policy, claimed “We as educators and service providers, we as educators need to cultivate an environment where students feel trust and safety and acceptance, to be unapologetically themselves without repercussions of backlash.”

So, po. You hinted that you oppose Big Brother interfering with moms and dads parenting their kids.

Be honest.

Tell us you're revolted by what this school's done.

Wait…the parents are so oblivious the don’t notice the transition?!

  2. by Hunter28 on April 14, 2023 10:10 am

My understanding is that students may begin the first steps of exploring a transition at school, using opposite-sex pronouns, alternate names, etc. Parents wouldn't necessarily notice that, and the schools wouldn't tell, at least under these guidelines.

I have mixed feelings about this sort of thing. There are times when there are alcoholic/drug problems or mentally unbalanced parents, and telling them certain things would set them off and make the abuse worse. My spouse is a public school teacher, and there are a lot of abused kids in the class. When a fourth grader starts talking about very explicit sexual things, it's a tip off they dealing with abuse at home. Some kids have parents in jail, or who make frequent appearances on the police blotter.

So I can understand in certain situations, a school may not want to communicate some things to parents.

I'm not entirely convinced that transgender exploration belongs in the same bucket. I can see problems with excluding parents from this conversation.

There are a lot of other things I have qualms about in regard to policies transgender advocates are pushing. I guess I'm on Team TERF with Dave Chappelle and J.K. Rowling.

However, here's the thing. Only about 0.5% of the population is experiencing gender dysphoria. That's one person out of 200. It's a statistically insignificant number. And these things tend to work themselves out over time. Even if withholding this sort of information from parents is a bad idea, our society has a way of working through issues. We'll start to see problems after a few years, and the tide will turn. A free and democratic society is usually good at course correction. Calm down and have faith.

But what I see from Mr. Hater is an obvious attempt to blow something out of proportion for short-term political gain. Haters gotta hate and trollers gotta troll.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on April 14, 2023 10:31 am

Well, 28, there's SS context here. po, in particular, has a history of spreading vicious hate, without exception, toward everyone who supports legislation intended to insure that parents are free to parent their children in public school.

As a result, I directed the thread to Ponderer.

Apart from your hate directed toward me, I consider your post to be amazingly cogent and nuanced...and, I agree.

  4. by oldedude on April 15, 2023 7:52 am
But what I see from Mr. Hater is an obvious attempt to blow something out of proportion for short-term political gain. Haters gotta hate and trollers gotta troll.

Prior to you getting on the site, there were several threads regarding this issue. The logic of the hatred is, to say the least, strange and fabricated. The MI governor's press secretary is one example. The idea that, in their view, "everyone against us needs to be eliminated." I actually started looking in to this just to see for myself if this was nuanced or exaggerated. It turns out these events are just stated by lead. And very little, if any, were challenged.

  5. by Ponderer on April 15, 2023 9:29 am

I also agree with you, Hunter.

What people like Hate don't want to address with a situation like this is that the school is erring on the side of the child's safety. Why should the school assume that the parents are not aware of the child's behavior and take it upon itself to inform them? If the child is keeping it from their parents, it could well be because they fear what their parents will do to them, and informing the parents could be the worst thing for the child.

If a child is simply expressing themselves the way they want to, what harm is being done to the child or any other students just because they want to be called by a certain name or look a certain way? Why should the school get involved by bringing it to the parents' attention? It's not like the kid is threatening anyone or being disruptive

Actually, knowing the terrors that go through a young transgender child's mind at that age, the idea that they would be willing to out themselves at school while trying to keep it a secret at home is a pretty illogical. I can't even imagine that there would even be more than a tiny handful of such cases in the first place. But I'm willing to be corrected on that if anyone has the stats.

It's just more nonsensical, bullshit, hair-on-fire apoplexy from the right to dredge up controversy.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on April 15, 2023 10:02 am

    po,

Big Brother is, actually, your blood Brother, right.

And, our Bill of Rights be damned!!!!!

  7. by Ponderer on April 15, 2023 3:14 pm

In what section of the Bill of Rights contains the part about schools having to out trans students to their parents...?

    You're a blithering moron sometimes.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on April 16, 2023 3:57 am

    po,

Public schools are, to use your lingo, effin, PUBLIC schools. They exist to serve the public, the populace, the mummies, daddies, nannas and pappaps of the community.

The Bill of Rights defines the ways in which citizens are protected from the intrusion of the government...Big effin Brother...into their lives.

No one here, on SS, begrudges you the right to choose, as an adult, to address your issues with gender dysphoria by having surgery. But, for you to suggest that it's appropriate for employees of the community, i.e., PUBLIC school teachers, to undermine the relationship between parent and child, and to encourage children to change gender when they're not old enough to choose their bedtime, is indescribably anti-American.

    It's evil.

And, honestly, I can't believe that even you...as bonkers as you are...do it.

If you want that sort of thing to happen, support school vouchers so parents can send their children to private schools that serve the gender dysphoric. pb's all for that.

But, to quote "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap," otherwise, c'mon man, gimme a break.

  9. by Ponderer on April 16, 2023 7:30 am

"[...] and to encourage children to change gender [...]" -Hate

You see Bill...? This is an outstanding example of what makes you such an asshole. You and the whole sociopathic, mendacious, asshole Republican party.

The issue of this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with anyone in schools "encouraging children to change their gender". That is just a lame-ass, hallucinatory propagandist trope your side is currently employing to demonize my community and make us look like a threat to society. You thought I'd miss you throwing that bullshit in there didn't you.

If any school officials are literally encouraging any students to transition, which I am sure is only an extremely rare occurrence, that specific teacher or school official should be taken to task for acting outside of the school's curriculum. That is absolutely wrong and should be dealt with on the rare per-case basis that it happens.

It is not part of any public school curriculum, under any circumstances, to encourage any student to change their gender. So Bill, it would be extremely helpful if your side would quit lying its ass off that it is.

I am not in favor of any teacher encouraging any student to change genders in the very rare situations where such a thing might occur. I believe a teacher or school official has no business ever doing such a thing. And there is no secret "Trans Agenda" seeing to it that they do.

Jesus Fukking Christ you'll have us grinding up children's bones to make our porridge with next...!

But it sure as hell serves your propagandist purposes and those of the Republican party, to pretend that legions of "woke" teachers are acting on orders from the "Trans Agenda" to foment such a "plague" on our society, doesn't it. This is yet another example of why your whole party of immoral, bigoted, hate-filled, bullshitting assholes needs to go fukk itself.

Bill, your entire argument is based on erroneous bullshit that isn't happening and lies about what I want and believe. You especially can go fukk yourself, you fukking asshole.

    po,

A while back, the thing I posted to pt on SS that pt got pi$$ed off at me waaaaaaaaaay more than anything over these many years is my claim that you trans people have your own underground railroad going to influence young people.

pt got really, really ticked in a way that exceeded your own, over the top, anger and hate.

And, I think pt's anger banged the nail on the head. You?, you effin protest too much. This growing un-woke LBG community, that is so articulately influenced by the gay Guy, is proof that I'm right.

You can insult me as vehemently as you want, but I'm convinced I'm right.

    *****

    From the GAG website:

Gays Against Groomers is a 501(c)4 organization of gay people who oppose the recent trend of indoctrinating, sexualizing and medicalizing children under the guise of “LGBTQIA+”
Our community that once preached love and acceptance of others has been hijacked by radical activists who are now pushing extreme concepts onto society, specifically targeting children in recent years. [ That's how I see you, po.]

The overwhelming majority of gay people are against what the community has transformed into, and we do not accept the political movement pushing their agenda in our name.

Gays Against Groomers directly opposes the sexualization and indoctrination of children. This includes drag queen story hours, drag shows involving children, the transitioning and medicalization of minors, and gender theory being taught in the classroom. [You, po.]

The activists, backed by school boards, government, woke media, and corporations, have been speaking on our behalf for too long. When fighting for equality, our goal was to successfully integrate ourselves into society, but now these radicals aim to restructure it entirely in order to accommodate a fringe minority, as well as seek to indoctrinate children into their ideology...

    po,

GAG created its Twitter about 9 effin months ago. AT THE MOMENT, IT HAS NEARLY A QUARTER OF AN effin MILLION FOLLOWERS.

GAG's message is that everything you claim ain't happnin do be happnin...and that it's all bad!

What I know is that, with each passing day, more and more people believe what I believe and reject what you stand for.

    Real world.

  13. by Hunter28 on April 16, 2023 11:00 am

    Hater:

After your response to me above, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. But that's a lot harder the more I see you spread informational manure around this forum.

"Gays against Grooming" (GAG) is a right-wing propaganda organization that follows the same template as the ultra-conservative "Libs of TikTok" -- troll liberals by taking on a liberal name while espousing right-wing talking points. And if you want to protest grooming, stand outside a Catholic Church, where there have been countless child sexual abuse scandals.

This is an issue that is relatively new to our public discourse, and there are a lot of questionable arguments coming from both sides. Everyone would benefit from an honest, intelligent good-faith discussion. You don't seem interested or capable of that.

    An excerpt from Wikipedia:

Gays Against Groomers (GAG)[1] is an American far-right anti-LGBT[2] organization known for protesting against gender-affirming care for minors, including at hospitals that provide it;[3] against LGBT representation at schools;[4] and against Drag Queen Story Hour events.[5] A spokesperson for the LGBT advocacy group GLAAD has claimed that the group uses the slur "groomer" to characterize LGBT people as pedophiles.[5][6][1] GAG has hosted anti-LGBTQ rallies, alongside other far-right and anti-LGBTQ organizations such as Moms for Liberty, which have been attended by the Proud Boys.[1][7]

GAG began in June 2022 as a Twitter account created by Jaimee Michell, who had previously been employed by right-wing communications firms Arsenal Media and X Strategies and posted similar content on her personal account. The account is known for posting anti-trans rhetoric and has been compared to Libs of TikTok. Michell officially incorporated GAG in September.[5][1] GAG has been banned from multiple social media and payment platforms for violating rules on hate speech; they have been promoted by right-wing media outlets such as Fox News, One America News Network (OANN), and InfoWars.[4][1]

Hunter, again, welcome to this forum. You are a wonderful and needed breath of fresh air here.

I just finished watching a whole mess of Youtube videos of Jordan Klemper interviewing MAGA Trump supporters all over the country. Hate claims that he isn't a "MAGA Hat" Republican, but the similarities they have with our dear Hate are unavoidably stark.

There is simply no way to ever convince Hate, with any amount of evidence of any kind, that the various and flamingly immoral propaganda mongers he chooses to get most to all his information from are presenting anything but the truth and all other sources are irrelevant hogwash.

But I would certainly love to watch you try if you have a mind to. Have at it!

  15. by Hunter28 on April 16, 2023 12:18 pm

    Hater:

You seem to know quite a lot about "Gays Against Grooming."

If there are any gays in this group, surely we've heard of some of them.

For our benefit, could you name one well-known gay person who belongs to this organization?

  16. by HatetheSwamp on April 16, 2023 12:52 pm

Look it up. You're on Twitter.

I began charting a backlash against woke LGBT-ism during last year's Pride Month. It's real and it's expanding.

The truth is that most Americans are supportive of LGB rights, yet most Americans are not aggressively woke.

Hence, the power of the politically libertarian, moderate and conservative voices among LGBs is growing. In number. And, most importantly, in influence. If you doubt that, you're either informed, a fool, or...most likely...both.

The Ts and the Qs? What I think I'm seeing is a, well, cleavage, between the LGBs and the TQs...as the GAG agenda illustrates. It's early days. But, it seems to be there.

  17. by Hunter28 on April 16, 2023 1:02 pm

    You are evading my question.

I am not aware of any well-known (and therefore verifiable) people who belong to Gays Against Grooming. You have held them up multiple times as a source for your information.

Once again, please answer the question. Do you know any well-known gay people who belong to this organization? Who?

  18. by oldedude on April 16, 2023 8:45 pm
Just wondering. Why is that necessary? It seems like that's an elitist prig question. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on April 17, 2023 4:27 am

    28,

See t'other thread but, trust me. Many, many LGBs are, increasingly, put off by the trans POLITICAL AGENDA...and the trans community itself.

From what I can tell, the LGBT coalition is breaking apart.

In many places these days it's LGBs who are attending school board meetings to stand against policies that allow for trans activists to subvert the rights of mummies and daddies and nannas and pappaps to even know how their children are being raised.

    It's a woke thing.

  20. by Ponderer on April 17, 2023 7:25 am

"You are evading my question." -Hunter

Get tremendously used to that, Hunter. In the twenty-some years he's been in this forum, he has never answered a direct question with a direct answer to it. He's a totally stereotype Republican in that regard. In most other regards too, but that's beside the point.

Thanks. It's nice to have your permission, but I don't need it. You just keep on deluding yourself that you are right, and I'll go on insulting you because you're wrong and will never admit it. And all will be right with the world...

  23. by HatetheSwamp on April 18, 2023 6:20 am

    po,

...I'll go on insulting you because you're wrong and will never admit it.

Bang on. And, that's the point. You're typical of the whole trans community. Insults is what you bring to the conversation.

You offer nuthin but anger and hate. We're all, uh, "Christian theocrats." Even pt introduced the phrase "fascistic and disgusting," without qualification, to describe, presumably, each and every piece of legislation proposed to protect the rights of mommies and daddies to oversee their kiddies' PUBLIC school education.

It ain't working for y'nes but, rest assured, there's little I enjoy more than exchanging haymakers with you.

  24. by Ponderer on April 18, 2023 10:36 am

    Tulsi:

"DoD doctors have joined the abhorrent campaign for the mutilation of children’s bodies/minds with so-called “gender affirming” procedures, claiming 7-year-olds are qualified to make own medical decisions. Doctors who participate/advocate in such abuse/mutilation belong in prison."

People too young to choose their own bed time...

    Ridiculous.

  28. by Ponderer on April 19, 2023 9:01 am

    So...

    What's your point?

I mean it can't be that you think that anything Tulsi Gabbard has to say about the issue means a god damned thing. Especially when she's being as mendaciously wrong as she is about it.

I mean... Can it? Could you be that stupid to think it does?

  29. by Ponderer on April 19, 2023 9:03 am

I mean, you couldn't be so stupid that you think that 7 year-old children are waltzing into surgeons' offices and demanding sex change operations while their helpless parents stand by, could you?

  30. by HatetheSwamp on April 19, 2023 9:20 am

You've already splained, po. Tulsi's one of them there, vile, baha baha, uh, "Christian theocrats."

I mean, you couldn't be so stupid that you think that 7 year-old children are waltzing into surgeons' offices and demanding sex change operations while their helpless parents stand by, could you?

    No.

    So?

  32. by Ponderer on April 19, 2023 3:36 pm

So... you were posting what Tulsi said... because you disagree with it then...? Is that what the "Ridiculous" was meant for? Because it was an moronically idiotic thing for her to say and

Oh wait. I get it. You meant that you weren't stupid enough, as she is, to think that 7 year-old children are waltzing into surgeons' offices and demanding sex change operations while their helpless parents stand by. You were just stupid enough to repost her words here that said as much. I get it now.

  33. by HatetheSwamp on April 20, 2023 6:11 am

    po,

I assumed that you are grounded in reality well enuff to realize that your "waltzing into surgeons' offices" is a non sequitur.

House passes bill seeking to ban transgender athletes in women’s sports

The bill passed with a 219-203 vote and now heads to the Senate for consideration, where it's unlikely to pass the Democratic-led chamber. Even if it did, the bill would almost certainly face a veto from President Joe Biden, who threatened earlier this week to block the measure.

"This is exactly what we want: to protect biological girls being able to fairly compete against other biological girls in the sports," said Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) ahead of the vote on Thursday. "I don't care how many surgeries you have. I don't care how many chemicals you put into your body. You're not going to be a biological woman. Anyone who claims to be a feminist or believe in what feminism was founded upon should stand with us and vote for this bill to protect and preserve women's sports for real biological women and girls."

"Young girls are being exposed to male genitalia and have to undress themselves and expose their own bodies to these biological males," said Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI). "Let's stop distorting reality. It's beyond disgusting. And I cannot believe that we are subjecting the girls to this kind of exploitation, it makes me sick to my stomach."

The bill would still allow transgender females to train and practice with female sports teams so long as the athlete’s participation does not prevent a biological female athlete from being included on the roster.

The legislation comes as 21 states already have laws in place that ban transgender athletes from participating in sports that align with their gender identity, with three of those states stalled as they face court challenges. If passed, the legislation would amend Title IX, which is a comprehensive law enacted nationwide that prohibits discrimination based on sex.

    Three observations.

    1. The GOP has become the party for organic women.
    2. 203 Dems just voted against the will of the great majority of Americans.
    3. Dems are in the bag for the WOKE effin LGBT community.
