    This is my shocked face. They keep telling me they never said that? I'm confused. So they really did say that... I can not believe it! And sooooo many! wow.     I get it. The producers of that video want to mislead viewers into believing that the Democratic Party wants to abolish the police. Stupid people fall for that sort of thing.

    The video is not even what it purports to be. It's not seven minutes of Democrats saying "defund the police". It's a handful of Democrats, aka "The Squad", like Corie Bush, AOC and couple of others using that phrase.

    Other Democrats, Pelosi for example, saying we should consider the reallocation of funds that go to police. Maybe mental health professionals should get some of the police dollars. Btw, I personally don't think that's a practical idea. Cops need to be social workers with a gun. They have to know how to de-escalate the situation but also know how to react quickly when a disturbed person becomes violent and a danger.

    As Donna's link points out defunding does not mean abolishing the police.

    Now on the other hand, MTG and other MAGAites are saying "Defund the FBI". I don't hear them saying that the FBI should be "reimagined" to deal with mental health issues, etc.

    But, count on it, in purple states and purple House districts, Dems will be, justifiedly be link to a cause of increased crime...with these videos as indistinguishable evidence.

    Actually they all seem to be very impressed with their knowledge about conspiracy theories.

    There's that on the left too. A few days ago I was banned from a Bernie Sanders FB page for taking on the moderator's baseless conspiracy theory that AG Garland is in cahoots with the Republican Party.

    Of course Bernie Sanders himself holds no such view. You've gotta watch these FB group that purport to represent a politician. Often they're created by people who just want a podium to spout nonsense.

    If there is no correlation between "Defund the Police" and the rise in crime, why are the dims now saying they never said "defund the police?" It doesn't make sense unless it's worth the lie that can be pointed out easily and you can be made a fool out of in re-election. You're defending the indefensible.

    That's because some Democratic lawmakers were advocating for "defunding the police". Many still are. But even for them, defunding never meant abolishing - it meant reallocating some funds to police duties that could be taken care of by professionals who aren't cops. Curt's against it, and I'm not educated sufficiently in that area to voice an opinion.

    Biden was never for changing anything about how police departments operate, though, and neither were most Democratic lawmakers. That's why he's out there making a point about that.

    I didn't know about those FB groups. It seems that it's false advertising to claim affiliation with a politician or other notable person.

    Typically they use the politician's name in the name of their group, like "Supporter's of [politician]". They don't claim affiliation. I probably shouldn't have said "purport to represent a politician". But if you go to a FB group that says "We Love Bernie!" or something like that, you don't expect the moderator to be pushing ideas that the politician doesn't believe in.

    Well if any Democrat said that and they really meant "preventing (a group or organization) from continuing to receive funds", then that isn't a position that's widely supported by Democrats - just like the GOP has lawmakers who have extreme ideas.

    The only politician I'd consider my "hero" is Bernie Sanders. I highly doubt he ever said that.
