Minutes after Trump said he wouldn’t run and hide, he runs and hides.

I don't care what anybody says. Trump's trials won't help his poll numbers.

We don’t really know Joe Biden or Donald Trump. Maybe we should listen to those who do.

I'm a progressive, but sometimes I want to strangle people on the left.

The article below from the Huffington Post (which I never read, and this is an example why) via MSN (which is where I stumbled across it) finds it puzzling why Gov. DeSantis is making such a big deal about "woke math" and why Florida schools are sending math textbooks back to the publisher.

Then I came across the following paragraph:

"The Education Department released images to the press in April of just four pages of allegedly “woke math” in returned textbooks. One, for example, included a bar graph showing that people over 65 and political conservatives tend to express more racial prejudice."

But the writer is puzzled why that might upset conservatives.

Frankly I find that upsetting too. Why insert political commentary into a math textbook, even if it's true? Why not include a bar graph showing that humans eat more bananas than monkeys, or something non-political like that instead? Why does everything have to have a political message?

How would liberals feel if a math book their kids were being taught from included a bar graph showing that liberals are more likely to block or unfriend someone online because they disagree with something they have posted?

Why do some liberals have to be so unnecessarily antagonistic?

Based on what was reported in the HuffPost, I agree with you, Donna.

The only excuse I can see for the graph as described that it's controversial nature might make math and statistics more interesting. But there are other interesting topics that are graphable.

Along those lines, I was annoyed by a headline that I saw today in The Hill: "Ocasio-Cortez, progressives call on Schumer, Pelosi to strip SCOTUS of abortion jurisdiction". Seriously? Even in the exceedingly unlikely possibility that there are 60 votes for that in the US Senate, I am highly skeptical that the Senate can limit the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court on an issue. All that accomplishes is more dissatisfied Democratic voters.

I agree. With that line of thinking (Should it be considered "thinking"?), the original Roe vs Wade nor same-sex marriage decisions would have been made.

    Yeah.

The Courts and the Legislature are coequal branches of government.

As I've been saying, AOC is Marjorie Taylor Greene, and that may be an insult to MTG.

You're the kind of commentator I'm railing at, Hts.

There's never going to be an end to this polarizing death spiral our country is on as long as we have so many cowards like yourself who refuse to slam those in our own political parties who close their eyes to and promote the divisiveness that's tearing our country apart.

  5. by Donna on July 16, 2022 3:35 pm
I take that back. My apologies, Hts. I didn't see your Marjorie Taylor Greene slam. That's a good start. Keep it up.

I guess you missed this one, olde dud.

Hts contributed one comment and moved on. He doesn't like it when we're in agreement.

    Donna,

This one ain't particularly interesting to me...

    ...but did you catch this:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After a heroic protest at the Supreme Court, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent the better part of three hours sitting in an invisible police car with her wrists bound by invisible handcuffs, waiting to be taken to an invisible jail.

"After being threatened with an invisible gun, I was thrown on the ground by invisible police!" shouted Ocasio-Cortez as she flipped her hair for the camera. "They've kept me stuffed in this invisible squad car for hours, the fascists! When I get out of the invisible slammer, I'm going to make them pay - every last invisible one of them!"

She and others were arrested. I don't understand what all of that other stuff you posted is in reference to.
