Best mini series ever!

(NY Times)The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol on Monday abruptly scheduled a hearing for Tuesday afternoon to hear what the panel called “recently obtained evidence” and take witness testimony.

The hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m., according to a news release issued by the committee, in which it provided no other details about the surprise session.

The panel has held a series of hearings this month laying out the findings of its nearly yearlong investigation, but it had not been scheduled to have any additional sessions this week, with no legislative action planned and lawmakers scattered across the country.

Oh, that thing? Is that still goin on? I thought, after the white men on the Supreme Court stripped women of their citizenship on Friday that they'd just drop all that stuff.

Well, I'll be doggone! You don't say.

Remarkable how you Trump enablers all sound so much alike !!

I support Ron DeSantis for President.

  4. by islander on June 27, 2022 2:45 pm

You are a Trump "enabler". You voted for him twice and would vote for him again if he is the GOP candidate. You enabled him to become president and would do it again. Claiming you support DeSantis doesn't in any way change that.

And don't you think it is remarkable how you Trump enablers all sound so much alike !!

  5. by HatetheSwamp on June 27, 2022 2:56 pm

You are correct. When my only remaining alternate is a woke, Blue MAGA Swampcultist, I'll vote for Trump. I'll hurl but I'll do it. And, I won't regret it.

Interestingly, I watched MORNING JOE the day after the last hearing. Joe and the gang were beside themselves because those honorable GOPs who ratted on OrangeMan say that, if he's the nominee, they'll vote for him again.

They went on and on and on. They were aghast!

Y'nes just don't understand how repulsive you are but, perhaps, soon, you'll catch on.

  6. by islander on June 27, 2022 3:02 pm

"Y'nes just don't understand how repulsive you are but, perhaps, soon, you'll catch on."

I'm sure we are to you Trump supporters and enablers. But what does that have to do with anything?

  7. by HatetheSwamp on June 27, 2022 3:07 pm

But, these were the principled, honorable, heroic GOPs who willingly dumped on the Don before the Committee.

That's what's amazing. These are wack people who drive 700 miles to attend a rally!

You can dismiss this at your leisure and, by all means, please do.

"...GOPs who ratted on OrangeMan..." --HtS

"Ratted on"?! That's the jargon of criminals. Are you unwittingly admitting that Trump is guilty of some criminal behavior? Or did you intend to say that?

  9. by HatetheSwamp on June 27, 2022 3:32 pm

Very observant but, no, I'm mocking the TDS of the whole hearings enterprise.

"... I'm mocking the TDS of the whole hearings enterprise." --HtS

You say you are not a Trump enabler. You posts on the subject certainly indicate that you are a Trump defender. That seems to me to be basically the same thing.

Do you believe that the witnesses in the hearings are perjuring themselves?

Do you think the hearings are suppressing exculpatory evidence?

Maybe you think that cajoling and pressuring election officials to overturn the will of the people is no big deal.

Or maybe you think that Trump really, really believed that he won, therefore (by reason on insanity?) he shouldn't be charged with any crimes.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on June 27, 2022 4:20 pm

I absolutely do not believe that the witnesses are not perjuring themselves. But, since there's no cross examination, I doubt the whole story's being revealed.

And, I wonder whose testimony is not being revealed.

I do strongly suspect that exculpatory evidence is being suppressed. Why else not allow GOP appointed membership?

I think that the cajoling and pressuring of election officials to overturn the will of the people is a very big deal.

I'm certainly convinced that Trump thought...THINKS...he won.

As far as Trump being charged?, this Committee is a waste of time. It has no authority. If it comes to criminal charges, a prosecutor will have to act. The Justice Department already knows all the stuff the Committee is hoping to make a brouhaha out of.

Why has it not acted? Your guess is as good as mine but I suspect it already knows all that's relevant. And, nuthin.

I also think that TDS is a real thing.

    It's obvious that this Committee isn't about Jan 6th. It's the Trump's-an-SOB-Inquisition.

Having said that, I'm supporting Ron DeSantis for President. If these hearings damage Trump so much he isn't the GOP nominee, no one will cheer more loudly than I.

But, I watched a big chunk of the Trump rally on Saturday. And, I watched his speech. I'm already losing hope.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on June 27, 2022 4:59 pm

Right, Donna. It's what America's doing.

  14. by Curt_Anderson on June 27, 2022 5:07 pm
Why not allow McCarthy's picks for committee membership? Because he selected Trump's co-conspirators in the plot to overturn the election results. Jim Jordan and the like wouldn't be trying to reveal the truth, but to gum up the works with delay and stall tactics.

The DOJ has acted. Last week they subpoenaed and raided the homes of Jeffrey Clark and a half dozen state-level Republicans involved in the fake electors scheme. John Eastman said today the FBI took his phone. That's hot on the trail of Trump. Not to mention they've charged hundreds of insurrectionists including some prominent ones. Some have and are serving time in prison.

The DOJ apparently does not have all the information that the Committee has. They've been requesting more evidence from the committee.

As far as the exculpatory evidence, Trump and his cronies announced that they would be "counterprogramming" the hearings to rebut and to tell their side of the story. What have you seen or heard from them than exonerates Trump? Trump's response seems to be limited to carping about the Hearings' Nielsen ratings.

Like you, FOX News seems to be moving on from Trump to DeSantis. Even Brian Kilmeade now says Trump was unhinged after his election loss. Obviously the Hearings are having an impact.

  15. by Donna on June 27, 2022 5:21 pm
Well yeah, the hearings clearly are having an impact. Hts knows that, else he wouldn't be spending so much time complaining about them.

You have to understand -- and I see this all the time on social media -- that everything Hts posts is about 'Hey everyone, look at me! I'm bucking the consensus!' IMO it's a method they use to feel special.

  16. by Ponderer on June 27, 2022 7:32 pm

I'm loving these hearings. I find them to be quite riveting entertainment.

I gotta say, I'm actually letting myself get pretty excited about this mystery testimony tomorrow. What with all the federal search warrants and mass subpoenas and all, who knows what this sudden emergency hearing will bring about. Talk about a cliffhanger!

Will we hear tell of a cavalcade of federal indictments? Or be shown some blockbuster slam-dunk evidence (Not that all of it hasn't been that) that no one ever imagined we'd ever see? Will a witness be brought to the hearing with a bag over their head? Pretty entertaining stuff!

I think that documentarian and his work with Trump is gonna be playing a huge role at some point.....

Rule One of a Proper Coup: Don't have a film crew document you committing your attempted coup. You know, just in case you fail and are dragged into criminal court for any of it. Terrible optics.

    Curt,

Whether you or the Dems like it or not, ours is a Representative Republic. And, that is exactly why Pelosi should have allowed the other party of have its own representation on the Committee.

To many, the work of the Committee will always be tainted by virtue of the fact that House Dems have made the membership of the Committee an issue.

  18. by HatetheSwamp on June 28, 2022 4:04 am

Well yeah, the hearings clearly are having an impact. Hts knows that, else he wouldn't be spending so much time complaining about them.

I'd love for you to splain to me the evidence that suggests they are having an impact.

They are not diminishing Trump's support among the MAGA crowd. I watched Saturday's rally. The crowd was huuuuuuuuuge! And, its support for Trump was as enthusiastic as ever.

And, in polling, Trump is now leading Biden in a hypothetical head to head match up.

And, Joe's polling is tanking a breakneck speed and has been since the hearings started.

Please help me understand what suggests to you that the hearings are having an impact. I'm not seeing the evidence.

I've been saying that, especially to people like isle and you, the hearings are, essentially, political porn.

    I say, enjoy.

The hearings begin at 1:00 pm today!

If at all possible be sure to watch them. It's much better and more informative than hearing someone else's opinion of them while only seeing video clips. 👍

Omg! Somebody said that Trump wanted to be an American Caesar. More like an American Nero.

Trump tried to strangle his Secret Service agent. He throws plates and food against the wall. Knowingly sent an armed mob to the Capitol. He was having a tantrum.

  23. by islander on June 28, 2022 2:54 pm

    Curt-that's exactly what I thought!

What we saw on Jan 6 was actually a display of a sick man's temper tantrum !

Trump was enacting his vengeance on us all...

  24. by HatetheSwamp on June 28, 2022 3:19 pm

Trump is despicable. What's federal penalty for that?

  25. by Donna on June 28, 2022 5:40 pm
Trump is mentally ill. That's not a crime, but it can cause one to commit crimes.

  26. by HatetheSwamp on June 29, 2022 3:58 am

What we learned from Ms Hutchinson is that when people catch TDS, that is what can cause people to commit crimes.

The question is if Lizzy knew the Beast story was a lie ahead of time.

I don't know which is worse for the Committee. Did they not effin vet this testimony or did try to get away with a really juicy lie. Which do y'all think it is?

  27. by oldedude on June 29, 2022 5:21 am
Considering her "testimony" is typical sheeple TDS. They were told this was "true" and then those mentioned she said were involved, are willing to testify in court they didn't say anything of the sort, nor was that any part of the "story" she told.

And yet people are still sticking to the story only because it makes Trump look bad. Not because it's any part of the truth at all. Curt will continue to support her lies because he's so ingrained in TDS he just bleats when they tell him to.

  28. by HatetheSwamp on June 29, 2022 5:47 am

    Bingo, bubba!

This proves how brainless they are.

    Those brain-dead, hate-filled Committee members!!!!!
