Officials say the man was armed with a handgun, a knife and pepper spray. He was stopped near — but not at — the justice’s house. And when police detained him, he said he was there to kill Kavanaugh, these officials say...

The court confirmed some of the details in a brief statement: “At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh. He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District...”

Asked by reporters last month if she was concerned about the protests outside of the judges' homes, then-White House press secretary Jen Psaki said any demonstrations should be peaceful. "Violence, threats, and intimidation have no place in political discourse," Psaki said.

The story here is that there are maniacs on the left have been lukewarm at best in responding to threats and promises of violence from their side.

Dems are going to lose this politically.

Well, ya know, most of us aren't cops, so we can't be out there arresting nutcases like that guy, but I think I can safely estimate that 99.9% of us dastardly liberals support the apprehension of that kook.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 10:05 am

Decry Schumer and his war cry and the proclamation of a Summer of Rage.

  4. by Donna on June 8, 2022 10:15 am
Yes, he said that, and then he went on to specify what he meant by that.

^^^ An example of clear, rational analysis, which American, left and right, seems to be in short supply of.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 10:23 am

What did he say he meant?

  6. by Donna on June 8, 2022 10:31 am
What? You expect me to transcribe it for you? You'rethe one who posted it. I'll bet that you got it from some wingnut media outlet and didn't bother actually watching it. If you had, you wouldn't be asking me what he said. What a lazy fuck.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 10:32 am

    YouTube?

  8. by Donna on June 8, 2022 10:52 am
You posted the link, you idiot.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 11:04 am

You insulted, "I'll bet that you got it from some wingnut media outlet..."

My reply "YouTube?" which you had to link to in order to see the video, was asking if you're calling YouTube, "some wingnut media outlet?"

    Do you?

It's certainly not MSNBC to the HuffPo. You probably do think of YouTube as wingnut.

  10. by Donna on June 8, 2022 11:31 am
Sorry for the "idiot" remark. That wasn't fair. You're more of a knucklehead.

I get what you meant now. Thanks for the clarification.

Of course YouTube has all sorts of stuff. The YouTube channel that posted that video you posted the link to is called Roll Call.

  11. by Donna on June 8, 2022 11:46 am
And without inspecting the video content of Roll Call, I would assume that it's a wingnut channel.

  12. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 12:07 pm

BTW, it's THE Roll Call. Certainly not wingnut.

  13. by Donna on June 8, 2022 12:59 pm
No, it's simply "Roll Call". There is no "The" in the logo or anywhere on the channel. I don't have any idea what you were looking at.

Btw, I looked at Roll Call's video content. It's unmistakably wingnut, not the most extreme I've seen, though.

  14. by Donna on June 8, 2022 1:43 pm
Upon further inspection of Roll Call's video content, it appears to be non-partisan. My bad. I was confusing the Schumer video Roll Call posted with your wingnutty commentary about it.

I just read that the guy who wanted to kill Kavanaugh has been charged with attempted homicide. So it seems there's more to it than I had thought.

I'm getting tired of society having to deal with these psychopaths. That's how they're wired, and that's tragic, too, but protecting innocent people should be the #1 priority and we need to stop them before they get to that point.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 3:35 pm

Watch the Schumer video again. It's like Schumer is telling Supreme Court Justices that they'll be in trouble the next time they're up for election...

...or, he could understand the Constitution and was threatening them with the very sort violence that the progressive guy with the Glock 17 (with an extra magazine) and a knife and duct tape and burglary tools was planning.

I think he understood Schumer perfectly.

Schumer's problem is that he can't hide behind dementia. I think he's just an evil demagogue.

  17. by Curt_Anderson on June 8, 2022 3:49 pm
I am sure that the guy near Kavanaugh's house had bad intentions. But is it a crime to possess a gun, knife and duct tape? I happen to have two of the three in my shed at the moment.

  18. by Donna on June 8, 2022 4:01 pm
I think to believe that Chuck Schumer was calling people to violence is the sort of lunacy we've come to expect from you.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 4:09 pm

Fine! I think that to believe that Schumer doesn't know that Supreme Court Justices have a lifetime appointment is your own unique brand of sycophantic Blue MAGA Swampcult lunacy.

    So...you splain what he meant!

  20. by Donna on June 8, 2022 4:32 pm
I just watched the Schumer video again and I have no idea what you're referring to. Can you tell me what he said that prompted your remarks?

  21. by HatetheSwamp on June 8, 2022 4:38 pm

I asked you to splain his point. As far as I can tell, he's warning Gorsuch and Kavanaugh that, if they make decisions to take away women's rights, they'll "pay the price" the next time they face the voters...

...but, he can't possibly mean that!

  22. by Donna on June 8, 2022 4:49 pm
You're right - he couldn't possibly have meant that because that isn't what he said. He very clearly was referring to Trump and Republican senators.

  23. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2022 3:45 am

    Bullferner, Donna!

You're a self-proclaimed good analyst. Schumer told Gorsuch and Kavanaugh that they "will pay the price."

If he's not threatening violence, what could he possibly mean?

  24. by Donna on June 9, 2022 7:53 am
There were 2 statements along those lines. The second statement was in reference to the 2020 election that was coming up that fall where he warned Trump and Republican Senators.

As for Schumer's first statement, he's not the type of person that would call for violence. I could only picture a couple politicians who might do that. Given Schumer"s character and record, I think it's safe to say that he was calling for massive protests outside of the justices' offices.

  25. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2022 8:04 am

    Donna,

Numerous have been the times that I've accused you of being conveniently naíve.

    This is yet another.

You put on that routine when the obvious truth hard for you to admit. The Supreme Court is the site of protests several times a year in typical years, in years like this, on a regular basis. "You have released the whirlwind...You will pay the price..." Mere protests?, the most normal of occurrences? Bullferner!

To use a word for you that you recently used for me.

    Effin IDIOT!!!!!

  26. by Donna on June 9, 2022 8:40 am
Well you free to believe that Chuck Schumer wants people to murder Supreme Court justices. Here on planet Rarth, though, most of us have come to different conclusions.

  27. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2022 9:43 am

What's remarkable in our exchange is that even you can't reasonably suggest a meaningful interpretation of Schumer's words other than a call to violence.

Surprisingly, Mitch McConnell had a reasonable take on the assassination attempt. He spoke about apocalyptic rhetoric which leads unstable people to do what this crazy did.

I think Schumer was being sloppy in using very dangerous rhetoric which even you can't explain away. All you can do insult me if I insist on taking Schumer's message at face value.

You're being a Good German. "The Führer couldn't mean what he said. And, 'here on planet earth,' we know not to take the Führer seriously when he calls for violence against our opponents."

    C'mon man, gimme a break!

If Trump warned RBG, back in the day, that she "released the whirlwind," that "she will pay the price" and "won't even see it coming," only the most rabid Ultra-MAGAs would have denied his obvious meaning and attempted to explain it away.

GOPs like ol pb would say their version of "I despise Trump. I think he's despicable." And, we would have denounced him.

As you know, even effin Sean Hannity called Trump on Jan 6th to beg him to denounce the Capitol riot!

How it is that Blue MAGAs...like YOU...can't call a Dem out for poor judgment when it's called for?

You wanna know why moderates and Independents have turned their backs on Joe and the Dems? It's not because you have wackos. Both sides do. It's because of your widespread Blue MAGA Good German-ism.

  28. by Donna on June 9, 2022 10:44 am
Oh, so your take is that Schumer's sloppy speech might have insired that nutcase to murder Kavanaugh. Please forgive me for not being able to read your mind. You didn't make that clear before. I'm not even certain I understand what you're saying now.

I wouldn't have delivered the speech Schumer made. I'm more articulate than him. And I agree with you that his words could have inadvertently inspired violence. The left has its psychopaths too.

  29. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2022 10:54 am

    Might have. Certainly.

But, Schumer's rhetoric is of a kind with what's normal among you Blue MAGA Swampcultists. It fits with the promise of a Summer of Rage. Last night, "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" talked about a "mini revolution" with Jimmy Kimmel. It's what you do...who you are.

It's not only Schumer. It's your whole value system and that why Independents and moderates are thinking of you as having the plague.

As to your belief that you are more articulate than the US Senate Majority Leader?

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh!

  30. by Donna on June 9, 2022 11:51 am
Many independants are on the extreme left. I'm on the extreme left on some issues, and right of center on a couple other issues and at various places on the left on other issues. I don't automatically fall in line with policies promoted by the loudest voices. I don't place people like Chuck Schumer on a pedestool because of their title. I've always been an independent thinker.

  31. by Curt_Anderson on June 9, 2022 11:58 am
Sometimes these homicidal crackpots are independent.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice has identified the man accused of shooting and killing a retired judge before turning the gun on himself, as reports indicate he also left a "hit list" with the names of Democratic governors Gretchen Whitmer and Tony Evers and Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell.
