The Forgotten
The Forgotten

Outside the Mirror
The word peace means little to those of us who live in a free world. It is used by ditzy homecoming queens as a way to win the vote of the audience. It is recognized as a symbol of the care-free hippies of the seventies.
In reality, the word peace should have a much deeper meaning to us all. In many places around the world we take for granted the safety and security we feel. It is hard to imagine that only half a century ago the world was deeply troubled by the second world war. In that war, billions of people lost their lives either fighting, or because of their religion.
Yet, we still complain of the little things. When adults demand more and more money when they work less and less, it is just as bad as a little kid demanding presents when they have done nothing to receive one.
Around the world people are immersed in their own problems-taxes, school, work, and other petty issues. Only a handful of persons actually have opened their eyes to see all of the problems in this world, but these few are still ridiculed by lazy, self-centered people who care more about their pocket book then the welfare of those who have nothing.
As you read this some person is dying because of starvation, a child is being abused, forests are being torn apart, and more animals are being placed on the endangered species list.
There is plenty to fix about this world, but even many world leaders have yet to step up to the challenge. What happens if no one ever tries to stop these problems? Do you think they're going to magically fix themselves? They won't. We, the people of the world created these problems, and if we do not start fixing our mistakes, the world will be a much worse place for our children's children.
The countries, religions, and different peoples of the world are too busy planning the annihilation of each other, too busy creating war to look at the damage that we have ALL created.
I wanted this to be short and to the point because the time I spend writing this, I could be using to stop some of the damage I, myself have created.
So as I bid you all farewell for now, I beg you all to look out of your mirrors. Try to save our world.
It is, after all, the only we've got.
