There is difference between a Socialistic Democracy (which believes in a balance between satisfying capitalistic greed with the people's socialistic needs) and a Socialist Dictatorship.

In a socialistic democracy, the government doesn't "take over" private companies and privatize them, but believe that essential public services should still be run by the state elected governments rather than for-profit companies. Socialistic democracies are not against capitalistic but do not treat it as an absolute in itself, but rather, a tool to enable social-programs that is operated purely for the interest and demands and needs of the people. Socialistic democracies believes socialistic concerns of the people takes priority over an absolutely free market. In a totally free market that is unregulated, those with the most resources can eventually rig the system such that it is no longer really a free market anymore, and workers and the environment gets exploited for maximum profit at any cost.

The problem with some of these so-called "socialist states" is with it being a Dictatorship. Taxation to maintain the state run fire departments, police, public infrastructures such as electricity, water and roads, social security, single payer option health care, regulation of companies from polluting our drinking water, and so on, are what socialistic democracy is about. The fight for minimum wage and implementing policies for the interest of the people and workers rather than those of mega banks and corporations is democratic socialism.

As for China, they are not a communist country anymore, but have devolved into a capitalistic fascist dictatorship pretending to be working for the people (i.e. socialism) so that the politicians at the very top can hold on to their absolute power with the people supporting their tyrannical masters/emperor-Xi.

Next you'll be trying to sell us gold. eye rolling smiley
nah -- love the idea of competing currencies. although you need to get ready for nyc.dc and their 'legal tender' dictate.

nyc is going to crush any cryptos they dont own. look at the millions killed over last 100 years building dollar inc. as i'm typing this they are killing people for that.

the only safe crypto will be one THEY own and jerk you around on. no currency is allowed to appreciate in value over long term. NONE. (((they))) like to call it 'strong dollar policy'. that's code for 'we'll kill/bomb/genocide anyone that tries to challenge the federal reserve note'

you've been warned. only use lottery money and dont intend to buy and hold

have you noticed the new crypto derivs coming out of nyc, chicago? those are weapons that will be used

I see a slow progressive shift of world power away from the US (especially now with Trump as president), and an increasing desire (especially of the rest of the world, especially Europe and East Asia) to not be tied too strongly by the USD and its economy (even if it may still, atm, be the worlds biggest economy).

Wouldn't want any other major world-powers to take over the control of "money" neither (e.g. China, and whatnot).

Crypto offers a more viable way to escape this and put control back on the people (regardless of where they are from). Of course, I am not talking about the current wall-street style speculative mad rush of cryptocoin trading, but the actual promising technology behind them that is still currently in its beta stage infancy and under heavy development -- As explained by the videos linked above.

I myself have invested a lil (of what I can afford and am prepared to lose) into crypto; and atm, despite of the predicted crash in crypto-values, I've still made close to 100% in profit (in terms of the overall valuation of the coins I have now). I had earlier pulled out all of what I had invested (just $5k of my savings) -- which I only had recently re-injected during the fortunate slump as the result of implementations of the long-overdued regulations on the speculative crypto-trading markets around the world (which really isn't what Cryptocurrency is about).

Crypto-coin(s) have the prospect of becoming a viable world-currency for specific or general use as the technology improves; as opposed to a store-of-value asset such as Gold. Indy! would have realized this, or address this argument if he disagrees, if he have actually bothered to find out what was actually being said, rather than jumping the gun and making a comment base on his own biased assumptions like he ALWAYS do.

@TX: The "beauty" of a decentralized currency is that it can never be completely shut down. There are no country to bomb, no individuals to arrest or centralized corporations/servers to shut down, that can significantly disrupt it. Corrupted corporate agencies will lose their "ammo" to destroy economies and destructive austerity measures (that locks people's live savings in banks) will have less impact on people's daily lives.

A wider adoption of the world can secure this and bring about change. Even if say US/China/Russia/India wants to completely ban the decentralized cryptos; innovations will find its way (e.g. decentralized exchanges such as AirSwap) and even eventually work around it; and if the rest of the world adopts it regardless, the countries that do not will still have to deal with cryptos in one way or another.

Another possibility that cryptos can bring about is a decentralized internet (3.0), that no government can censor, or shut down.

Update: Who Has the World's No. 1 Economy? Not the U.S.

I saw an ad that held my attention long enough to read some of it. The writer compared the crypto rush to the gold rush. Thousands of people rushed for the gold but very few got rich. More money was to be made not from mining gold but from selling products and services to the miners. The idea is if you want to get rich on the gold rush, sell wheel barrows. I'm not buying advice from questionable sources, but the idea is correct.

Txcup I don't exactly disagree with you, and I have little doubt the big dirty already has its hands in crypto. They can manipulate markets and propaganda but there is an "arms race." As the IRS rolls out tracking software, the geeks will develop more evasive programs to counter the tracking. However it isn't just about currency but is revolutionizing the way the internet works. This is an exciting time.
Check out privacy coins such as Monero Nitou. winking smiley

Personally I do not think trackable and taxable coins are necessarily a bad thing; it may be the needed middle ground for countries to accept it.

The main value IMO that crypto can bring is decentralization; to wrestle away the ability of organizations/governments to manipulate and inflate the currencies that the people hold to bail out banks, or to fund wars and corporate welfare and tax-cuts, and whatnot.

And right now, there is such diversity of coins being developed, that even if BitCoin or any of the major coins gets taken over by any centralized entities, another coin can potential take its place as the standard. People in the crypto market generally are very weary of coins that are too centralized (either in mining process, or a few individuals holding too many coins that they are able to crush the whole market if they so choose).

Another interesting crypto-project you might be interested to research on is EOS -- basically they aim to create a 3rd Generation Internet (or Internet 3.0), a decentralized internet that cannot be censored or suppressed -- at least that is the aim, and the innovation and development of such technology can be an on-going transparent process (where all the codes and developer updates are made open source to the public, and adoption of new versions of the code is done through a democratic process -- as many crypto projects/currencies do).

The coins have just significantly crashed back almost down to the level I had initially bought it (at USD4.5-5k approx.) last year's August!!!

I have just re-injected the original funds (that I had previously taken out when it was at ~17kUSD) back into cryptos earlier today when it hit about 6.1kUSD. grinning smiley

A crash is a very good time to buy.
