Becoming more and more skeptical every day

At the heart of theoretical physics is the theory of everything, combining all known physics into a precise mathematical equation. We treat these mental giants who develop these theories as Gods, you get an elevator pitch at Ted talks and appearances on Cosmos but there is a fundamental flaw I've been thinking about lately. How would one know any particular theory of everything was true? Well, at the subatomic level we would have to know particle physics. An important question remains, have we discovered all virtual particles? If a theory of everything was found to be consistent with known reality, but 10 years later we discover a new particle, the theory of everything would necessarily be incomplete.

Where does it end?

Infinite regression is fascinating, it's like God telling us we have no chance in hell understanding the fundamental philosophical and metaphysical questions...

But that doesn't stop people from promoting strongly held viewpoints. Be it religious, political... Skepticism seems like the only real option. We have the left arguing against corporatism and free markets the right government interference and incompetence... Holding different economic theories but maybe not including enough psychology and other sciences to fully understand the flaws of economic dominance seems counter yon
I'm beginning to agree to the label of the skeptical monk. It's harder to argue certainty in a dying world of perceived chaos

We're trying to explain our experience in the world so that, among other things, we can predict as well as possible what comes next. Virtually any natural theory does better in this regard than supernatural theories do. Supernatural theories are generally correct about 50% of the time, which should come as no surprise to anyone.

Supernatural theories are correct about 50% of the time? Can you give us an example?

Prof Stephen Hawking, one of Britain's pre-eminent scientists, has said that efforts to create thinking machines pose a threat to our very existence.
He told the BBC:"The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race."
