I can grow my own food.
I have the space, the tools, and the knowledge to do so.
(also my own well and power supply)
So I won't have to eat paper or oil.

I may have mentioned this before but the survivalists are wrong about hiding away and fending off the masses with handguns. Cooperation will be essential for survival in a real economic collapse (as unlikely as that really is).

gold just locks in the present value purchasing power. no gain or loss should be expected. it's a very conservative investment.
