Elizabeth Warren Leads Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders for First Time in New Iowa Poll
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) took the lead in a new Des Moines Register Iowa poll on Saturday night, marking the first time the Massachusetts Senator led both former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in the first caucus state in the poll.

According to the new survey, Warren narrowly leads at 22 percent, with Biden following at 20 and Sanders at 11 percent. No other candidate reached double digits but South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg followed at 9 percent, with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) at 6 percent to round out the top five. Additionally, the poll found that Warren was drawing the support of 32 percent of those who say that they caucused for Sanders in 2016 and that she narrowly led him among voters under age 35.

Unlike the bern (who actually doesn't shift his position and is pretty straight up), she's actually the easiest target for lying.

First, accepting a job and taking money for lying about being a minority.

Then taking big money from lobbyists...

Here are the federal lobbyists who have funded Elizabeth Warren, despite her pledge to reject such money

A quick review of Federal Election Commission filings cross-checked with Senate lobbying disclosures returns at least four different federal lobbyists who cut checks to the progressive champion. Warren took:
$500 from Melanie Nathanson, a lobbyist at Nathanson & Hauck on Oct. 30, 2017
$2,500 from Gerald Cassidy, a lobbyist at Cassidy & Associates on Dec. 12, 2012
$500 from Jim Gottlieb, a lobbyist at Capital Counsel LLC on Sept. 30, 2012
$200 from Jim Gottlieb, a lobbyist at Capital Counsel LLC on AUg. 19, 2011
$200 from William M. Cloherty, a lobbyist at Schlossberg-Cassidy on April 12, 2012

If a politician tells you that you don't need a gun, go to a state with a gun show loophole, and buy 10. Then buy 1,000 rounds per gun- and pay cash.

"First, accepting a job and taking money for lying about being a minority." -OD

Her ethnic background had no bearing whatsoever on any of the jobs she ever had. Her position(s) and her hiring for it/them were in no way, shape, or form were at all ever tied to Affirmative Action programs. Her ethnicity or what she claimed it was had no bearing on her hiring by any stretch of a fair minded and sane imagination. So "first" off, you're wrong.

Second, if legally accepting legal donations from lobbyists and their client organizations was never done, Bernie Sanders and the rare few others who eschew such donations would be pretty much the only political candidates ever to run for anything.

Accepting donations from such sources is not ideal. To put it very mildly. I am in no way happy about her doing it and I wish she hadn't and won't from here on. Such donations thwart democracy and put a billion-ton thumb on the scale of our political system and has essentially evolved us into an oligarchy. But until such donations are made thoroughly illegal and campaign finance laws are drastically changed, it is going to be the way our political system operates in general.

Pondy-
It got her a job at Harvard Law School...

Elizabeth Warren, Progressive Fraud

"Warren is a bit of an academic grifter. She’s willing to fake her way to the top. When she came to Harvard Law School, she was — believe it or not — considered by some to be a “minority hire.” She listed herself as a minority on a legal directory reviewed by deans and hiring committees. The University of Pennsylvania “listed her as a minority faculty member,” and she was touted after her hire at Harvard Law School as, yes, the school’s “first woman of color.”
This was no small thing. At the time, elite universities were under immense pressure to diversify their faculties (as they still are). “More women” was one command. “More women of color” was the ideal. At Harvard the pressure was so intense that students occupied the administration building, and the open spaces of the school were often filled with screaming, chanting students. One of the law school’s leading black academics, a professor named Derek Bell, left the school to protest the lack of diversity on campus."

sorry, truth hurts sometimes.

Again, what anyone said about her hiring afterwards means little to nothing. Even if the school touted her being a "minority hire", it does not mean that it is why they hired her.

There is no evidence that her claiming minority status actually played any part in her actual hiring. There is no evidence that she wouldn't have gotten the position if she hadn't checked that box.

Valiant effort though. thumbs up

Harvard had been getting a lot of push back from minority students about the lack of diversity. Lizzy checked the box (literally).

As early as 2012
Article Cites Elizabeth Warren As First Woman of Color Hired by Harvard Law School

"A 1997 piece from the Fordham Law Review lists Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren as the "first woman of color" hired by Harvard Law School, according to reports.

The article, which was unearthed by Politico, was titled "Intersectionality and positionality: Situating women of color in the affirmative action dialogue." The author, Laura Padilla, who now serves as the Associate Dean of California Western Law School in San Diego, CA., reportedly based her description on a phone conversation with then Harvard Law spokesman, Mike Chmura."

"A 1997 piece from the Fordham Law Review lists Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren as the "first woman of color" hired by Harvard Law School, according to reports.

That statement in no way asserts that it was an instrumental issue in her hiring. Only that the Fordham Law Review wanted to make hay with it, after she was hired, for whatever their own reasons were.

From the same citation, because you can't read-

Read, "she overtly and with knowledge, lied to gain access to a job through dishonest means."

When she came to Harvard Law School, she was — believe it or not — considered by some to be a “minority hire.”

And these "some" that thought that were directly involved in the actual hiring process that took her ethnicity into consideration for the job? Or did these "some" consider her to be a "minority hire" after she was hired?

She listed herself as a minority on a legal directory reviewed by deans and hiring committees.

A directory she was listed on after she was hired? I would imagine everything on one's application is reviewed by the deans and hiring committees. She probably listed her sex as being female on the form. Was that instrumental in getting her the job? You are simply assuming that it her checking the ethnic minority box was, so was her checking the box for female also instrumental? You don't know that it was instrumental in either case, and you have no evidence that it was.

What no one is able to establish (and you certainly haven't), and what the whole point of your outrage and that of others who want to make a big deal out of this is about have, is that it actually played a role in her hiring. You people assert, or want to create the illusion, that it did help her get the position when you have no evidence of that at all.

The University of Pennsylvania “listed her as a minority faculty member,” and she was touted after her hire at Harvard Law School as, yes, the school’s “first woman of color.”

Again, after her hire. Did the Harvard Law School also tout that it was instrumental in her getting the position?

Yes, that is your read even though you have no substantial factual evidence to support your reading on. Just highly biased speculation. Speculation is not evidence. Your opinion is not evidence.

Warren has long been my second choice. Her choice of VP will be a very telling indication of things to come though.

Warren has a lot to answer for. Trump will annihilate her in an election. Only the brain dead will vote Warren...
