Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 03:22PM
I mean, since there has been a vast, institutional misreading of what it means and was actually intended for and is now just being used as an excuse to sell guns to documented mentally ill people and other psychotic situations that have the Founding Fathers spinning in their graves, isn't it about time to revisit repealing or at least greatly amending that amendment?

How about banning casinos?

How about banning outdoor performances?

How about banning high-rise buildings?

How about you looking in the mirror and realizing you are as ignorant as a brick?
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 03:35PM
Those are stupid ideas that are absolutely pointless and completely irrelevant. Have you nothing of any substance to offer to a rational discussion?

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

As if YOU DO?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA?

(This is really TOOOO easy, folks!)
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

Of course it's easy to simply insult someone and refuse to engage in a discussion. In fact it's the easiest way to lose a debate before it even starts that there is.

What I don't get is why you think it gains you anything.

Here...... try simply answering a simple question:

Why do you think the Second Amendment should not be repealed or amended?

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

Why am I bothering trying to get anything out of that troll?

Anyone else have a good argument as to why we need the Second Amendment to stay in its present form?

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 03:57PM
Why don't we simply uphold the bans already in place? I'm referring of course to the people who already were (past tense) banned from Selectsmart?

*Facepalm.*

THIS is why the government orchestrates mass shootings. It isn't just to promote gun control and other "security" measures, but to sow fear and confusion. It makes people more open to suggestion and more easily controlled.
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

Where weapons are outlawed it has stopped mass shootings.

NOT!!!!!

(Mirabeau grows weary of attempting to educate those not capable of being educated, i. e., liberals.)

No Mass Shootings in Australia in 20 Years: How Did They Do It?

Mass shootings stopped in Australia after strict new gun laws passed, researchers reported Wednesday.

And overall deaths from firearms have fallen since the 1997 law, which banned certain semi-automatic and pump-action weapons and forced owners to sell them back to the government, the team reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

“Following enactment of gun law reforms in Australia in 1996, there were no mass firearm killings through May 2016,” Simon Chapman of the University of Sydney and colleagues wrote.

So back to the question you were asked, why shouldn't we repeal or amend the Second Amendment? Why do we "need" it?

It's a trap. Pondy just wants Trump to be a literal tyrant by confiscating all guns. The truth that Trump was democratically elected is too hard for her to cope with

"It's a trap. Pondy just wants Trump to be a literal tyrant by confiscating all guns." -tuk

So you just want to distract from the fact that you can't come up with a good reason that we need the Second Amendment either, eh tuk? Interesting.

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 04:30PM
Protection Pondy. Is there some hard and fast rule that history can't repeat itself?
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 04:37PM
What type of firearm do you think would be adequate minimum for "Protection", tuk?

And how do you figure that the Second Amendment was intended to allow people to have guns for that purpose in any way at all?

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 04:42PM
A successful and free citizenry without guns is perfectly possible. Guns are not a necessity in a free society. They can only be a hindrance to it.

Any semi auto weapon

Fully auto weapons are illegal like the weapons used in the LV shooting

Maybe the root of the problem is a paragraph in the No Child Left Behind act. you know the ' provision" where the military recruiters have access to
your teens. To sell their "conflict resolution" theories. Find an enemy , Kill them.
Imagine endless wars on peoples who didn't attack the U.$.
Now. how does repealing the 2nd. address these roots of the problem ?
Come on, all you "deep thinkers"
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 04:53PM
Your last post is nonsense. Of course guns are not necessary. Neither is killing people in cold blood. Tyranny, oppression, theft, rape, violence all unnecessary.
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

The Second Amendment is NOT about hunting! It is to ensure that an armed citizenry can overthrow a dictatorial government, as SHOULD have been done during the Obama administration.

Nothing would have pleased Mirabeau more than seeing an armed militia burst into the White House and EJECT Barack HUSSEIN Obama and the rest of his nasty crowd from that hallowed building!

"It is to ensure that an armed citizenry can overthrow a dictatorial government," -MiraBooHoo

Absolutely and totally 100% false. That is a totally mendacious and baseless assertion about what the Second Amendment was intended for. It is asinine to even suggest that the Founders put that amendment in there to arm people in order to overthrow the government that they just risked their lives to create. There is no evidence whatsoever that any of the Founding Fathers intended the Second Amendment to support an armed overthrow of the government. None at all.

America is a very sick country and, in looking at responses from the Texan braggart and Tuk, I don't see the medicine that can cure it.

Perhaps if you would link to the specific language in the Constitution of the USA which grants the Supreme Court the right to declare a duly enacted Act of Congress unconstitutional, that might effect a cure.

You STATED that language was in there, or in the "Judicial Act."

WHERE IS THE SPECIFIC LANGUAGE?

WERE YOU LYING WHEN YOU STATED THAT?

we'll give up our guns, no problem. just as soon as gov gives up its guns. to claim gov 'needs' its guns, while we don't, is asinine

another way to look at it -

gun grabbers like to claim that because we have police, we dont need guns

so because we have fire dept we dont need fire extinguishers?

lunacy

There's a lot of irrelevant information to my point in your post to have to wade through there, MiraBooHoo. Can you point to your favorite quote that connects the very specific wording of the Second Amendment to an actual intention of any of the Founders for it to facilitate and condone the populace in taking up arms against the government?

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 05:57PM
"Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?"

No.

The wording never mentions United States of America it references a "free state" and "necessary" that is very telling. I would suggest you read the Federalist Papers and get some proper grounding before trying to debate this issue.

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 06:07PM
The term "state" is appropriately broad for the purposes of the amendment. It can mean the country or an individual state within the country. And as neither the country nor any of the states had standing armies back then, a well organized and armed militia was necessary to defend freedom of that state or the country from any invading entity. Not for people to protect themselves with the guns. Read the amendment again. Although personal protection was certainly a side effect of people having guns in order to be part of a well organized militia, it was not the primary or anywhere near predominant reason.

I forget whether it's Maryland or Massachusetts that has also seriously reduced gun violence thru outlawing certain types of guns, etc...

There is ample, overwhelming evidence that gun laws work. And - before the Red Party even goes there - yes, enforce the laws on the books already as well. That is another problem that allows these things to happen. I've made this point before - people who leave guns lying around that are then used in crimes or "accidental" shootings - should go to jail too. We have the laws on the books - we NEVER enforce it.

And while we're talking about rules, banning things and enforcing laws already passed - how about applying that to people who have been banned for Selectsmart? Especially the people who are doing the same EXACT thing that got them banned in the first place?

create all of the strawmen you want. there is no wiggle room

the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed
Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?

Correct!

The right of THE PEOPLE.

Not "the police," not "the army," THE PEOPLE.

Mirabeau is a people, and he is DAMNED SURE keeping his guns: ALL OF THEM!

they are in the employ of one of the potential (and most likely) opponents of the People

Re: Time to repeal the Second Amendment...?
October 03, 2017 09:49PM
I see. So the Framers intended, by including the Second Amendment in the Constitution, that only citizens should bear arms... and not law enforcement.

Riiiiiiiiigghhhhht........

One of the main practical reasons the 2nd was actually put in there was that these "well regulated militias" were often in the form of slave patrols used to keep the threat of slave revolt to a minimum and to round up fugitive slaves. Not to allow for the populace to overthrow the government, but to be used against people in this country.

Basically, the reasons that the Second Amendment was included in the Constitution are totally irrelevant to modern day America. Especially the absurd notion that it was intended to provide for "well regulated militias" overthrowing the government.

...Unless you want to argue that the reason we currently have a standing military, which supplanted those militias, is because we need to use it to overthrow our corrupt government every now and again. As the Framers intended for such a force to be used for of course.

Right. That's why no home should be without several fully automatic assault rifles with 100-round clips and tens of thousands of rounds of ammo.

Gimme a break.

Right.

The Second Amendment specifically states the number of weapons one may own.
